I can still
remember the shock and horror of that day. I still can't believe that
something like that could happen in our own back yard. 2976 people lost
their lives that day and so many people have forgotten. We need to remember
September 11, 2001 as horrific and tragic. Learn from this day that we are
not immune to terrorism. Find the anger that we all felt that day and
re-kindle it. Remember that we are Americans, we are family and there are
people out there who are trying to harm, even kill our brothers and sisters,
mothers and fathers. Get angry, stay angry and don't let it happen again.

Remember and pray for the victims and their families. Remember and pray for
our troops and their families who still sacrifice daily to protect our way
of life. Thank those in uniform for their service and appreciate the
lifestyle that so many take for granted, the lifestyle that I and many like
me gladly served to protect. The lifestyle so many have died to protect.

God bless America, God bless us all.

Don't forget September 11, 2001.

January showed some improvement with 4,095 active listings, 77 sold and 53.18 months inventory. April even more promising with 4,228 activive listings, 119 sold and 35.53 months inventory. In May 2009 we moved some property with 138 sold, 4,210 active listings and 30.51 months inventory.

With good pricing from the get-go, the average "Days on Market"(DOM) has been around 200 days. This actually is not bad as the lowest DOM since June 2007 has been 146 which was September 20007.

As always, offers are submitted below asking price. The average price change from listing to sold is currently at -12.73% (property sold for -12.73% below asking price). This figure has remained fairly constant since 2007 ranging from -12.06% for June 2007 to -13.35% for August 2008.

With the 1st Time Home buyer tax credit and interest rates still available at around 5%, this is a fanastic time to be in the market, either buying or selling.

As I’m sure you are well aware, the number of wounded troops is mounting and the toll this takes on the families as well as the Service Member is overwhelming. The

sacrifices our injured Military Personnel are recognized with medals and commendations. However, the mothers and wives who arrive to be “nurses”, wide-eyed and

afraid, make their own sacrifices-abandoning jobs and homes and delaying retirement to help their wounded children and husbands reclaim their lives.
Bring a Soldier Home, is dedicated to helping these families continue to live and function as a complete family unit, and provide financial assistance to enable them

to stay together through rehabilitation.

We are so thankful for the generosity of the area businesses and members of the community, which continue to support our brave young men and women. A young

soldier once said to me “our biggest fear isn’t the Taliban; it’s that the American people back home will forget about us”. Thank you for not forgetting!!

On Tuesday, September 9, 2008, Cherry Point Commissary was part of a Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) wide Italian-American decorating/display contest. They

took it a step further and fed a few hundred active duty and retired personnel and their families. The FREE lunch consisted of different "Bertoli" products as well as

spaghetti, meat sauce, an alfredo sauce and garlic bread cooked up by Cpl Renesh Washington and Cpl Sean Davis and managed by Msgt Bobby Thomas. The

commissary personnel directly responsible are Jazette Stewart (Grocery Manager), Phyllis Black (Store Director), Shirley Mitchel (Merchandiser) and Katie Thomas

who is a representative of Sarvis/Unileaver who provided product.

Again, Thank you for showing your appreciation and the great lunch.

Source: VFW Magazine, May 2008, Commandpost, George Lisicki, Commander-in-Chief

"It's a sacred day to all war veterans: None need to be reminded of the reason that Memorial Day must be commemorated. But what about the general public, and more important, future generations? Do most non-veterans really recognize the importance of the day honoring their follow Americans killed in war?

Judging from what Memorial Day has become - simply another day off from work - the answer is a resounding no. Perhaps a reminder is due, then. And it is the duty of each and every veteran to relay the message.

Sacrifice is meaningless without remembrance. America's collective consciousness demands that all citizens recall and be aware of the deaths of their fellow countrymen during wartime.

Far too often, the nation as a whole takes for granted the freedoms all Americans enjoy. Those freedoms were paid for with lives of others few of us actually knew. That's why they are all collectively remembered on one special day.

This should be regarded as a civic obligation. For this is a national debt that can only be truly repaid by individual Americans. By honoring the nation's war dead, we preserve their memory and thus their service and sacrifice in the memories of future generations.

They came from all walks of life and regions of the country. But they all had one thing in common - love of and loyalty to country. This bond cemented ties between them in times of trials, allowing a diverse lot of Americans to achieve monumental ends.

We remember the loss of loved ones, a sense of loss that takes group form. In essence, America is commemorating those who made the greatest sacrifice possible - giving one's own life on behalf of others.
